Top tips to keep in mind for your yoga practice
Yoga is such a soothing practice. It not only helps in keeping our body fit and healthy but also our minds. While it’s a practice which anyone of us can do, whether indoors or outdoors, there are some things which you have to keep in mind before you practice your exercises or asanas. I am writing this so that some of these tips will help you take advantage of yoga practice and further your journey to mindfulness and wellbeing.
Given below are some things to keep in mind for yoga practice.
-
Choose the right place:
The most important thing is to find a well-ventilated, quiet, and clean place for your yoga practice. Noisy places can cause distractions. If you like indulging outdoors, visit the park but avoid locations where there is direct sunlight. Under the shade of a tree or a place where there is no sunlight is preferable. Even when you get a little space to practice, make sure to keep that place tidy. You don’t need a fancy spot for your practice. What is more important is to find peace, calm and a decent place without any distractions.
-
Keep an empty stomach:
Practice yoga in the morning when you are over with your daily ablutions. With the positive energy of the morning light, you get a refreshing start to a new day, and practising yoga at that time keeps your mind and body energised for work hours. Keep a gap of a minimum of 4 to 4 ½ hours between meals and yoga practice when you are doing it in the afternoon or evening. Keep an empty stomach to avoid inconveniences during the yoga practice.
-
Wear comfortable clothes:
In your daily yoga practice, you don’t need something fancy to wear. Wear comfortable clothes that allow you mobility. Wear clothes so that you can pursue your yoga practice without any discomfort or hassle.
-
Be away from distractions:
In this day and age of always-on and connected humanity, your smart gadgets like cellphones, tv, laptops, and so on can become the biggest distractions for you during your yoga practice. Keep your cellphones or other gizmos at bay, as they can be distracting and cause anxiety. While in the middle of your yoga practice, avoid taking calls or messages unless it’s very urgent.
-
Fix a convenient time for yourself:
Fix a time that and dedicate to yourself. To get the maximum from your yoga practice, learn to indulge yourself. Consider this time as a sacred one. Soon you will realise that loving yourself helps you grow internally as well as keeps your body fit.
-
Never miss your practice:
You will feel energised and fresh if you dedicate a little measure of time every day to your yoga practice. Never miss any and ensure to stick with the routine, and consider your yoga practice sacred. It doesn’t matter how much time you spend on the mat or how fancy your place and clothes are, but what does matter is that you are honest with the practice and willing to invest yourself.
Here are some of the things that or you to follow in yoga practice. Keep in mind all your passion for improvement is what makes yoga successful. As I have read somewhere on the internet: Yoga is like a light that never dims, but the flames burn brighter as you practice more and more.
